About

The Pony Express is the student news site of Houston High School and is part of the English/Journalism Curriculum. Founded during the 1991-92 school year, The Pony Express strives to bring relevant news and information to our students, faculty, staff, and community.
The journey in creating an online student news site was a short, frantic one; filled with disappointment (mostly from the staff), diligence (especially by the editor) and purpose. Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year after 22 years of traditional distribution, The Pony Express has switched to a digital format.
The group responsible for the transition consists of 14 students, eight first year journalism students with no experience, a first time editor and a new faculty sponsor. They achieved the format change in just over three weeks.
The goal of The Pony Express and it’s staff is to bring together and serve as a resource for students, faculty, and community of Houston High School and the Germantown Municipal School District.
