“A kind word and a caring heart goes along way” stated Houston new co-teacher Amelia Cochran. Mrs. Cochran is originally from Richmond, Virginia but has lived in Memphis most of her life. She attended Germantown High School where she played softball and volleyball.

While in high school, her volleyball team won state her sophomore, junior, and senior year. She attended University of Memphis and studied special education. She had the privilege being president of both Pi Beta Phi and Council for Exceptional Children.

She was a teacher at Bolton High School before coming to Houston. Cochran has two daughters that are four and sixteen years old which keep her very busy. She likes to watch her oldest daughter play volleyball and listening to music from country to rap.

Her advice for students is to find something you love and GET INVOLVED! “ I believe there is good in everyone. Anyone can learn and succeed in school and in life if provided the appropriate supports and if given the opportunities to do so.”
