Seattle Dog Rescued from Collapsed House Six Days After Landslide

Six days after a landslide claimed the Fritts family’s home, a neighbor heard the sound of a dog whimpering from the destroyed home. Rescuers arrived on the scene and saved the life of Sammy, a black labrador retriever. Sammy had been presumed dead in the days following the landslide, along with another one of the Fritts’ pet dogs. 

While the other dog, who’s name is unknown, parrished in the collapse, Sammy, although scared, remained alert after his rescue and was declared to be in stable condition. 

Even though Sammy was trapped in the house, he was in a position where the debris did not crush him, and most likely survived off of rainwater, according to the Seattle Fire Department. 

The collapse was caused by excessive rain the area experienced the days before
