Mr. Hamilton! How does He Do it?

When asked to do a teacher spotlight, there was only one teacher that came to mind for me, Mr. Hamilton. This year, my senior year will be the third time I’ve had Mr. Hamilton as a teacher.

It’s been a huge privilege to be in the film classes, so I thought I’d give Mr. Hamilton some shine. For some background, Mr. Hamilton graduated from Auburn University (and you’d know it from the first conversation you have with him.) He’s been a film teacher here at Houston for eleven years! He told me his favorite part of working at Houston is “the friendly environment and the eagerness everyone seems to have to help out others.” I had noticed that my film class was looking a lot different than it normally had looked in previous years.

When I asked Mr. Hamilton about some of the struggles as a hybrid film teacher, he had this to say, “The hybrid year has been really difficult with all of my classes in different ways. Splitting up my film three class has made recording HNN more difficult including trying to incorporate fully virtual students in a class that’s mostly studio work. Film two is difficult getting students to cooperate in different groups while socially distancing. Intro to the film is a drag because it’s hard to show movies when you see kids every other day. Also, I’m way behind my normal pace.”

As you can see Mr. Hamilton is juggling a lot of different things, but always seems to get work out on time. Make sure to thank the man who gets all of your announcements out in a timely manner.
