Throughout the years, Nicki Minaj has gained a lot of traction for her music. She first
got signed in January of 2004 after being in the musical group “Hoodstars”. In 2007 she
released her first mixtape, “Playtime Is Over”. A year passed by, and Minaj released her second
mixtape, “Sucka Free”. Another year passed and her third mixtape was released. This mixtape
“Beam Me Up, Scotty” turned out to be the one that really helped boost her stardom. Around
2010, Minaj began working with other big artists such as Lil Wayne, Christina Aguilera, Sean
Kingston, and many other popular celebrities. Working with these artists helped others notice
her talent and popularity considering many of the songs she was featured in made it to the
Billboard Hot 100 chart. Many magazines and new articles online soon started to fill the paper
with updates and stories about Minaj. This journey gave her the opportunity to start doing major
things such as preforming at award shows and setting examples for her fans even though some
might not believe she sets the best examples. Minaj is just her own person, and portrays self-
confidence for others. After years and years of many songs, albums, music videos and so much
more, Nicki Minaj’s 106 million Instagram followers and 20.6 million twitter followers were

caught off-guard when she tweeted “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys
are happy now.” Fans are expressing their devastation of the retirement of this huge celebrity.
Will there ever be a rapper quite as good and unique as Nicki? We will just have to find out.
