Not That Impossible.

Not That Impossible.

Meredith Harless

Burger King released their newest menu item on August 8th called the “Impossible Whopper”. The imposter burger contains all ingredients that exist in a normal whopper such as pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and a lot of mayonnaise, excluding the beef patty. Instead, the patty is claimed to be completely plant-based, with a mix of different soy proteins and plant fibers to imitate the actual Whopper burger. The patty itself visually looks like a beef patty, grill marks and color, and texturally is the same as well.

Taste-wise, the vegetarian patty also is almost the exact same as the regular whopper with all of the same toppings. The mountain of mayonnaise slathered on top should be excluded, or at least have a decreased amount, for those who are not mayo-lovers, or want a completely vegan option. However, when testing this, it was revealed that the impossible patties are grilled in the same place as the regular patties, going against the “fully vegetarian” claim. Overall, for vegans and vegetarians, this burger would not be the best option, but for those who want a healthier option for the whopper, I would highly recommend this immaculate experience.
