Three were killed and two were injured when a gunman opened fire on a Birmingham suburb mall Thanksgiving night. The 21 year old gunman, was shot and killed by a policeman who was originally praised by the police. An 18-year-old male was shot and immediately taken to UAB Hospital’s Trauma Center where he was treated but in serious condition.

A 12-year-old girl was also caught in the gunfire, although so far no signs point that she was shot and wounded from any motivation. Sources report she is in stable condition and alert currently at Children’s of Alabama.

However, Hoover (the suburb of Birmingham) police are now stating they think they shot the wrong man. A young black man fitting the description of the gunman exposed his weapon after gunshots were heard. Witnesses say this man was even trying to wave people to safety. While this event is a tragedy and their actions hurt a family greatly, many people in Hoover worry because the actual suspect is still at large. More updates keep coming out from the Hoover police, and the Pony Express will keep you posted.
