Avid Ben and Jerry’s fans may be in for a surprise when they go into a store to buy their favorite flavor. This week, the company announced a temporary change in the name of one type of the ice cream, renaming New York Super Fudge Chunk into something a little more politically charged. The new name, Pecan Resist, has been met with both applause and backlash.

The company has made no attempts in handing the change in a subtle or shy way, tweeting Tuesday morning: “Today we launch Pecan Resist! This flavor supports groups creating a more just and equitable nation for us all, and who are fighting President Trump’s regressive agenda.” The President has yet to comment on the name change.

As mentioned in the tweet, in addition to making a political statement, the company plans to grant $25,000 donations to four organizations each. These organizations- Colors of Change, Honor the Earth, Women’s March, and Neta. These organizations support people of color, the environment, and women. This is not the first time Ben and Jerry’s has used a switch in flavor names to take a stand. In the past, the company renamed flavors to support the legalization of same-sex marriage and the ban of GMO’s in food.

Not all ice cream eaters will have access to the newly-named flavor in their hometown. The company says Pecan Resist will be available in select stores only, but anyone can purchase it online.
