Best Lattes in Memphis

Best Lattes in Memphis

Blakely Harrison, Barrista

1. Otherlands
Inside Otherlands is a coffee shop like no other. Located a short walk from Young
Avenue, this is a perfect place to pop into after you do some damage to your debit card
at Urban Outfitters. The décor in Otherlands is a mix of maps, vintage couches, and
amazing art on all the walls making it a great place for a cute Instagram. The menu is
quite hefty with a combination of coffee as well as food. Their iced latte is quite bitter
and not the best but their hot latte is amazing and perfect for a chilly day.
2. Avenue Coffee
Avenue coffee is my favorite coffee shop to go to do homework. It is located right next
to the University of Memphis, so it always has load of college students with their
textbooks or laptops studying, creating a perfect environment to focus. The latte
situation is the same here as it is at Otherlands (not the best iced lattes but amazing hot
lattes.) *Also I would highly recommend their peanut butter Oreo cookies.
3. Cappuccino
Cappuccino is a local business, making it the move. It is one of the only quality coffee
shops in Germantown. The inside is very cozy and they have a big menu with lots of
coffees and lots of pastries as well (their croissants are 10/10). Their lattes are one of
my favorites and it’s ideal because it’s not a far drive.
4. Muddy’s Grind House
If you love Muddy’s cupcakes, check out Muddy’s Grind House! They still have all the
cupcakes we know and love, but with a great coffee menu as well. The décor on the
inside is very grandma chic. The inside is adorable, and they also have a super cool and
cute patio and if the weather is nice sitting there is definitely the move. Their lattes (as
well as their other coffee) comes in adorable mugs, making the drinking experience
even better.
5. Java Cafe
The last place on my list of favorite lattes is Java Cafe. This is another locale cafe in
Germantown. Their food is amazing and so is their coffee. I love going here and getting a
breakfast sandwich and pairing it with one of their delicious lattes. The only downside to
this cafe is that they don’t have mugs, just to-go cups so the coffee lacks the latte art
that the drink is known for.
Overall, Memphis has a vast amount of awesome coffee shops. One thing that I have yet
to find in any of them is a great iced latte. The ratio of great iced lattes to regular hot
lattes is quite upsetting. As an avid coffee drinker, I will definitely continue my search
for the best lattes in Memphis, as well as in the rest of the world.
