Jacksonville Shooter Targeted Gamers

Eman Habib, Detective

David Katz, a 24-year-old male, shot 12 people, killing two, at a
video game tournament in Florida this Sunday. It was said the shooting
started at around 1:30 p.m., which was only a couple of hours after the
tournament had started. Katz also shot himself that day at a gaming
bar. Katz had ammunition and two hand guns. Reporters say that Katz
had a relationship with the victims.
Records by The Associated Press revealed that Katz was
hospitalized twice in psychiatric facilities when he was a teenager. At
that time, he was also prescribed anti-psychotic and anti-depressant
medications.
The two victims that were killed were Taylor Robertson, 28, and
Elijah Clayton, 22. “This is the first time we’ve had to confront
something like this as an organization, and I believe the first time our
gaming community has dealt with a tragedy of this nature,” Wilson
said.
