Thor Ragnarok Review: Exactly What the MCU Needed

Thor Ragnarok Review: Exactly What the MCU Needed

This is what a Thor movie needs to be. If you’re going to make a movie about a “God of Thunder, Son of Oden,” it needs to make fun of itself. Director Taika Waititi outdid himself with this ‘80s almost John Hughes-esque take on another superhero installment. Even as a big MCU fan, some of the recent-ish sequels to overused characters got tiresome. The 2nd Thor movie that came out in 2013 was not my favorite, as many of its elements were cheesy and overused and serious. The way that Ragnarok changed my mind was the way it played off the campiness of Thor as a character, and used Chris Hemsworth’s comedic chops to its advantage. My favorite character by far was Jeff Goldblum’s portrayed of the “Grandmaster of Sakaar.” He pretty much played himself, which was absolutely hilarious. I would highly recommend seeing this movie as it will provide a good laugh and put you in a good mood.
