A Chicago Teen’s “Chilling” Death

A Chicago Teen’s “Chilling” Death

Matthew Moskowitz, Journalist

Last week Chicago teen Kenneka Jenkins was found dead in the freezer of the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel. The mysterious investigation by the Rosemont Police has found that Jenkins was seen last on Saturday September 9th, early in the morning at a party at the hotel. Jenkins’ body was found at 1 A.M. the following morning. Meanwhile, the autopsy report of the 19 year-old, done by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, is still pending. The videos released by the Rosemont Public Safety Department showed Jenkins “staggering” through the hotel on early Saturday. The Rosemont Police Department has stated that they have obtained a total of 36 hours of surveillance footage from the weekend and have released all clips which include appearances of Kenneka Jenkins.

While the amount of surveillance footage obtained from the hotel is somewhat large, none can be found that show Jenkins staggering into the hotel’s freezer. Friends of Kenneka Jenkins have said that she was going upstairs to find her phone and when they returned she was nowhere to be found. The Rosemont Police said that they have already interviewed about a dozen people that are in some shape involved in the disappearance. The attorneys representing Jenkins in the case have publicly said that the hotel staff never searched and looked for her while locked in the freezer. While the hotel’s representatives could not be reached, they have claimed that they are going to pay for Kenneka Jenkins’ funeral when the time comes.
