The Grit and Grind Begins

The Memphis Grizzlies began their preseason on Monday, October 3rd with a strong win over the Orlando Magic. This win swings the team into a great start after a tough 2015-2016 season.

The Grizzlies finished the regular season with a record of 42-40, ranking 7th in the Western conference.

The team came out strong, considering they were constantly being beaten down by injuries. Only one of the five opening-season starters was able to participate in the play-offs at the conclusion of the season.

This year, however, the Grizz are back and ready for action. Memphis has recruited Chandler Parsons, and he is said to be the most significant shooter the team has had in history. Parsons has signed a four-year contract with the team.

The Grizzlies are also experiencing changes to their coaching staff. At the end of the previous season, Memphis fired Coach Dave Joerger despite leading the team to the playoffs three years in a row.

The new coach, David Fizdale, says he is honored to coach such a talented group of men. Fizdale says the team spent their summer coming up with modernized strategies and attempting to accelerate the program.

The coach has also said that his starting five players- Mike Conley, Tony Allen, Chandler Parsons, Zach Randolph, and Marc Gasol- are winning ingredients in themselves.

Hopefully the Grizz will continue to grit and grind throughout the entire season and stray away from injuries.
