Best Buddies Prom Memphis

On Sunday, February 28th, Best Buddies Tennessee hosted its second annual prom for the Best Buddies chapters here in Memphis. Best Buddies is a, “ nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. It consists of volunteers that create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The programs main purpose is to allow volunteers to be paired up with a buddy with a disability and provide them with a friend or a mentor.

Best Buddies was started at Houston in 2014 by a group of ambitious students, and has grown in size and importance each year. Houston’s Best Buddies chapter brought around 25 members. The event was held at Woodland Hills Event Center, a large-scale transition from last year’s venue at Hope Presbyterian Church. Around 100 volunteers and 300 attendees were present throughout the course of the night.

The evening was full of food, pictures, and dancing. Best Buddies Prom is an evening that achieves inclusion and acceptance in a fun and positive environment.
