The Late Abe Vigoda

The Late Abe Vigoda

Bryson Russell, Staff Writer

Seriously this time, Abe Vigoda has passed away. Ever since People Magazine called him the Late Abe Vigoda in 1982, he has been mistaken as dead by many. Though Abe was a very good sport about it all. He never really played a major role in any show or movie he has been in, but he has always been a very good supporting character. As far as supporting characters go he tends to be very memorable. One of his more serious roles was that of a Mafioso caporigme by the name of Sal Tessio, in The Godfather in 1972. He was also on Barney Miller as tired Detective Phil Fish from 1974 to 1981. If you ever think back to any old mobster movie though and you remember that one old guy with the slumped shoulders, it was probably old Abe. His roles were minor compared to others but he still left an impact. Such as when he put Don Corleone’s life in danger in the Godfather to gain control of the Corleone crime family. Abe had been the butt of many jokes when it came to fake celebrity deaths, but now that he has passed, he will be dearly missed. So yes, he is indeed finally dead.
