This past weekend our Houston High School cheer team killed it at their final competition of the season in Orlando. The girls took home their second consecutive world championship and fourth place at the national level. The amount of work the team puts in for this one performance is extraordinary. 10 months of blood, sweat, and tears all for this one moment. They have to pull off a flawless routine, and that’s exactly what they did. Every stunt and tumbling pass that these girls had worried about for so long was executed perfectly.

Having a younger sister on the team and this being the 7th national competition I’ve attended, I can honestly say that there is no better feeling in the world then hearing your school’s name called in first place. I have never seen anyone happier than these girls when they received their jackets and medals. As Hannah Haynes a senior on the team says, “it’s a feeling that cannot compare to anything else”.

So if you see a girl walking down the hallway in a white satin jacket, be sure to say congratulations because it took a lot of hard work and dedication to earn it.
