Miss Universe royal mix-up?

After Steve Harvey, mistakenly announced Miss Columbia, Ariadna Gutierrez, instead of Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Columbia admits “It was very humiliating for me, but also for the whole country and for all the people not only from Colombia but the other Latinos that were in the auditorium,” Ariadna Gutierrez said in a new interview with Colombia’s W Radio according to the Latin Times.

In a teenage perspective, imagine your parents handing you car keys for a brand new car, and then taking them away and giving them to your sibling.  That might be humiliating to you at the time but you’d get over it and probably would end up with a new car eventually. But for Miss Columbia the crown was removed from Gutierrez’s head and placed on the head of the actual winner, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, the contestant from the Philippines while on NATIONAL television.

At first Miss Columbia told W Radio the first thing crossing her mind was “this is going to be a joke, because in the rehearsals he used to play around with questions and I thought he was going to continue with that same tone to make people laugh.”

Some internet articles stated that Steve Harvey announced the wrong name on purpose to draw attention to the Miss Universe pageant.

Two weeks after the mix up, previous owner of the pageant, Donald Trump, stated the two contestants should share the crown and be “co-winner.”  Runner up responded, “For the first time I agree with him.”
