Over the summer, Madeline Stuart began to take Facebook by storm. News of the 18 year-old Australian model’s journey into the modeling world became an inspiration to many— partily because she was born with Down syndrome, but mostly because she is an incredible young lady.

In 2013, Stuart decided to gain full control over her health. An avid dancer and swimmer, she began exercising and developed a balanced diet. Soon after losing about 45 pounds, ‘Maddy’ proclaimed to her mother that she wanted to be a model. This came as no surprise because, as Rosanne Stuart explained, “she loves the attention up on stage.” The duo quickly began to seek a modeling agent.

Fast forward to September 2015, and Madeline is the face of both of the labels American fitness brand Manifesta and everMaya, in addition to just having made her debut at New York Fashion Week. Madeline presented Hendrik Vermeulen’s spring 2016 collection on the catwalk. She loved the experience, according to her mother. “Within 10 minutes of being at the after-party, she told me she wanted to go back out and walk again because she didn’t want to be at that after-party, she wanted to be back on that catwalk,” Rosanne Stuart said to Cosmopolitan magazine.

Madeline explains she is, “so excited that society is taking so much interest in the disability sector and our belief in inclusion is getting so much media coverage.” Keep an eye out for this amazing young lady; she’s truly leaving a mark on both the modeling world, and society as a whole.
