It’s NOT the Fault in Our Stars

The novel Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is a fantastic read written by Jesse Andrews. The novel has been compared to the popular John Green novel The Fault in Our Stars which contrary to popular belief are almost complete opposite books.
This novel is nothing like I have ever read before. Although it starts out negative, characters throughout are becoming positive. This book is often mistaken for The Fault in Our Stars because they are both about a girl with cancer. However Me, and Earl, and the Dying Girl is a poetic tale of friendship and the undying story of a film.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is centered around a disgruntled amateur film artist who is forced by his mother to befriend a girl who was dying with cancer. Be warned, this book is not a love story.
Throughout the story it seems as though the narrator is yelling at you; making the story all the more entertaining. The story has many twists and turns and making the audience believe living through a tragedy is possible. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is the new feel good novel of the year and is sure to fly off the shelves, “It is sure to be popular with many boys, including reluctant readers, and will not require much selling on the part of the librarian” VOYA.
The struggles of friendship is something most people can relate to which makes the book lovable. This story tugs the heart strings of its readers and creates a new meaning for young adult fiction.
